Algeria Power Project Receives 37.4 Million Investment

Nur Din Boutula Rafah, president of the Algerian State Power and Natural Gas Corporation (SONELGAZ), said that the government will spend 6 million U.S. dollars (about 37.4 million yuan) to implement power projects, so that renewable energy sources at the beginning of 2030 can generate electricity. Meet 40% of domestic demand.

During 2011-2014, the government will determine the feasibility of implementing the project and its environmental impact, technology and financial resources.

In 2030, the renewable energy power generation project will have a power capacity of 12,000 megawatts, of which the solar thermal power generation project will have a power capacity of 7,500 megawatts, wind power generation will have a power capacity of 2,000 megawatts, and the photovoltaic power generation capacity of photovoltaic power generation projects. It will reach 2,000 to 2,500 megawatts.

Electricity coverage in Algeria increased from 41% in 1970 to 99% in 2011, and natural gas coverage in 2011 reached 47.4%.
