Virtual reality is a hot topic in the mobile phone and video game industry in recent years, but a Japanese technology start-up company wants to use the VR platform to do a different thing - stress management (emotion regulation / anti-stress therapy). DG Lab's Brainwave VR headset also includes an electroencephalogram sensor (EEG) that can monitor the electrical activity of the brain. By immersing the user in a series of visual experiences, it can monitor the user's state of mind and hopefully relieve their stress and anxiety.
While the user watches a series of constantly changing pictures, the system can make real-time adjustments according to the monitoring results of the EEG to reduce the user's stress level. DG Lab stated that 88% of the 43 subjects had decreased pressure.
Another lightweight VR experiment called the EEG Love Checker was also demonstrated at this year's Tokyo Game Show. The participants saw a series of character images through the VR device, and then the brainwave VR device displayed the degree of attraction of the subjects in the painting.
There are two main types of VR devices that can read brain activity. One is Air VR glasses (inflatable waterproof head mounted device + optional hanging EEG), the other is Brainwave VR glasses (built-in EEG + standard over-ear headphones), but both support 150° Watch the perspective.
It is estimated that the VR market will reach 150 billion U.S. dollars by 2020. However, at present, the equipment is still in the development stage, and it is not known when they will go to the consumer market.
