The reaction product (ultra-thin oxide) between the laser and the laser reaction layer was separated from the substrate and transferred to a 4 μm-thick ultrathin plastic. Prof. Lee said that one of the challenges in developing this product is that although many materials have sufficient ductility, they have poor transparency, low power, and unstable heat. This is one of the reasons why many similar R&D projects stop there. Initially, the product tried to use inorganic electronic materials, but found that the material can not withstand high temperatures, so they use the new ILLO (Inorganic-Based Laser Lift-Off) inorganic laser stripping technology to solve its heat problem. The ILLO process breaks through the technical hurdles of high-performance transparent flexible displays and reduces costs by removing the polyimide substrate.

Since this high quality oxide semiconductor can be freely transferred to similar skin or other flexible substrates, it can be more easily applied to wearable devices and AR products.
