International Rectifier (IR) has announced the introduction of a new high voltage buck regulator control IC-IRS2980 for LED bulb replacement, LED tube lighting and other non-isolated LED driver applications.
The IRS2980 is the company's first product in the high-voltage LEDrivIR IC family, rated at 600 V, and uses hysteresis average current mode control for precise current regulation. The new LED step-down driver includes a low-side MOSFET driver with a high-voltage internal regulator and high-side current sensing. The converter is compatible with electronic pulse width modulation dimming, and current control covers 0 to 100%.
IR says the new IRS2980 LEDrivIR IC can boost performance at lower system cost than other solutions for non-isolated LED driver applications. The IRS2980 in an SO-8 package provides top-of-the-line electrical overstress protection and higher field efficiency with an IR advanced high voltage IC process that incorporates the latest high voltage level shifting and termination technology.
