The rapid development of LED lighting products in recent years has brought tremendous changes to the lighting industry. LED street lamps, tunnel lights and other lighting products have developed rapidly. It is generally believed that these lamps are long-life and highly reliable. In fact, the reliability of LED lamps is not only the long-term maintenance of the lifetime of LED devices, but also reliable. Sex is also related to the reliability level of several electronic modules that are connected in series and in parallel.
The lumen maintenance life of street lamps or tunnel lamps reflects the average replacement life of each batch of street lamps. If the L70 is 30,000h and the street lamps work every day, we can use 3000 days (8 years) or pass this data. It is estimated that the investment can be recovered after a few years. However, this data does not indicate that LED street lights or tunnel luminaires are highly reliable.
The reliability of the use of street lights or tunnel luminaires needs to be assessed with reliability. Its reliability R is characterized by MTBF (mean time between failures), as shown in Equation 1. The failure criterion of the above luminaire is a fatal failure mode such as a dead light.

We can also use MTBF to estimate the annual average failure rate of street lamps (1-). If the MTBF of the street light is 20 years, the annual average failure rate is 5% (1/20 = 5%).
At present, the reliability of LED street lamps is not as good as that of traditional sodium lamps. This is often not understood by LED companies. It is wrong for LED companies to unilaterally promote high reliability and long life of LEDs. In fact, LED road lighting maintains a long life, but its reliability is not high. Below we use the actual application case of domestic LED street light or tunnel light to illustrate.
1. Shenzhen LED street lamp test stability data analysis (Semiconductor Lighting Industry Yearbook 2010-2011) This project has a total of 63 street lamps, which are estimated by 10 hours per day. The specific data is shown in Table 1.
From Table 1, it can be calculated that the average is 2.5 æ¯ per 100 days of work, which is in accordance with the exponential distribution.
The control group was 6 飞 Philips sodium lamp, zero failure in 718 days, and its MTBF=43080h≈43,000h was estimated by C=1, which was better than LED street light.
2. Shanghai Yangtze River Tunnel Semiconductor Lighting Tracking Test Research Summary (Semiconductor Lighting Industry Yearbook 2010-2011) A total of 5,870 sets of lamps, the annual failure rate of lamps is 3% (statistical data), so the MTBF of lamps is 30 years.
3, Beichuan Liaoning Avenue (Gaogong LED 2012 first period) a total of 2950 street lights, running two years and zero failure. According to C=1, the estimated ≈19 million hours ≈ 2170 years, the annual failure rate of the luminaire is 50 è².
