Seizing the "Belt and Road" Opportunity, Hairun PV Nuggets Overseas Market

In the new energy industry represented by photovoltaics, a large number of companies are using the “Belt and Road” approach to deploy overseas markets one after another.

From May 14 to 15, the "Belt and Road" international cooperation summit will be held in Beijing. The "One Belt and One Road" initiative has once again become the focus of world attention.

In the new energy industry represented by photovoltaics, a large number of companies are using the “Belt and Road” approach to deploy overseas markets one after another.

On May 8, Hareon Solar Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Hairun Photovoltaic”) and NereusCapital announced that its joint venture company MedakSolarProjectsPvt.Ltd. has completed a 8.2MW PV project in Telangana, India. OpenAccess mode for grid-connected power generation. This is Hairun Photovoltaic's second distributed photovoltaic power station in India with open access licenses.

“India's photovoltaic market will remain one of the most promising markets in the world in the next 10 years,” said Dr. Zhang Jie, Vice President of Hairun Solar and CEO of Hairun International. “The photovoltaic industry in developed countries is the icing on the cake, while India’s Photovoltaics is for the people to contribute to the snow, and our active participation is a very significant thing."

According to Zhang Jie, currently Hareon Solar has built more than 300MW photovoltaic power stations in India. In addition, Hareon Solar also has more than 100MW of power plants in operation in Bulgaria and Romania along the “Belt and Road” initiative, and has actively deployed in Africa, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.

"Belt and Road" Opportunities

“The “One Belt and One Road” initiative has been implemented for more than three years. A total of 47 central enterprises have participated in, participated in, or invested in, or have cooperated with enterprises of relevant countries to build a total of 1,676 projects, which have effectively promoted the development of the local economy and society. The 'going out' of central SOEs has provided rich practices,” said Xiao Yaqing, director of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, at a press conference held by the State Council Information Office on May 8.

Among them, based on the development needs of countries along the “Belt and Road,” energy central SOEs have successively carried out more than 60 oil and gas cooperation projects in more than 20 countries, including Sino-Russian, China-Kazakhstan, China-Myanmar crude oil pipelines, gas pipelines, and national grid construction. Multiple transmission lines, etc., have effectively solved the energy output problems of local oil and gas, electricity and so on.

In fact, in addition to energy central enterprises, some private solar companies are also an important force in the investment along the “Belt and Road” countries.

“At present, the application of photovoltaic energy is at a stage of rapid development of globalization. The development of the industry is no longer dependent on a certain market. The “Belt and Road” advocated by China provides guidance and support for Chinese PV companies to go global and open up new markets. It also benefits a lot of developing countries and people who really need solar energy.” Zhang Jie said that Hairun Solar responded to the national “One Belt and One Road” policy and successfully deployed some new photovoltaic markets.

Since 2015, with the gradual implementation of the “Belt and Road Initiative”, Hairun Solar has been actively deploying in countries and regions along the “One Belt and One Road” initiative. On August 5th of the same year, Hairun Solar announced that it had signed a joint venture agreement with Indian company ReNewPower to jointly develop, construct and operate solar power plant projects in India's Andhra Pradesh Province, and signed a 25-year power sale agreement; four months later, Hairun PV Through its wholly-owned subsidiary ARAMBARATOURITALTAKAALSHAMSIA (Anpai Photovoltaic Co., Ltd.) in Jordan, it has signed a 61MWp power purchase agreement and a grid-connected agreement with the Jordanian National Power Corporation (NAPCO), which has earned Hairun Photovoltaics a new profit growth point. Greater room for development.

According to Zhang Jie, at present, photovoltaic companies are mainly located in countries such as India, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. According to reports from some research institutions, the total number of newly added Southeast Asian countries is about 2.7 GW in 2017. Some countries in the Middle East already have GW-level tendering projects. The African continent has led the development of several countries in South Africa and North Africa, and has exceeded the size of GW. Other African countries have also introduced policies to develop photovoltaics.

Nuggets India

In the “One Belt and One Road” construction layout, the focus of investment of Hareon Solar is currently concentrated in India and other Southeast Asian markets.

Shao Runjun, vice president of Hairun Solar, revealed to reporters that currently, the total installed capacity of Hairun PV is more than 1GW, and overseas accounts for about 30%. “At present, our Indian factory has successfully started construction, and the future sales center will also be tilted toward the overseas market and aggravate overseas. The proportion of sales will reduce excessive reliance on the domestic market. After all, the domestic market is greatly affected by the policy."

According to BridgetoIndia’s report, India will become the third largest market in the world with 8GW of new installed capacity in 2017, and will add 56GW in the next five years.

On May 8th this year, Hairun Solar Projects Pvt. Ltd., a joint venture company of Hairun PV, completed a 8.2 MW photovoltaic project OpenAccess mode grid-connected power generation in India. This is Hairun Photovoltaic's second distributed photovoltaic power station in India with open access license.

The reporter learned from Hareon Solar that the above photovoltaic power station is located in the Medak area of Telangana and provided by Hairun Photovoltaics with high-efficiency and high-quality photovoltaic modules. It is estimated that the annual power generation will be about 15.2 million kWh. According to the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) signed by MedakSolarProjectsPvt.Ltd. and two multinational pharmaceutical companies, the electricity generated by the power station will be supplied to pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities through long-term access to public power grids.

Zhang Jie said that the company has developed the Indian market for more than 6 years and has established diversified investment channels to manage risks and achieved the desired results.

In fact, as early as March 2016, the 72MW project built by Hareon Solar and Indian clean energy company ReNewPower in Andhra Pradesh, India, has been successfully connected to the grid. This cooperation project is one of the earliest successful grid-connected power generation projects in the planned 619MW solar photovoltaic power generation project. The electricity generated by this project will be sold under the 25-year power purchase agreement signed with APSPDCL. The high-efficient polysilicon solar modules needed for the project construction are all provided by Hairun Solar.

Five months later, Hairun PV again signed a joint venture agreement with ReNewPower to jointly develop, invest, construct and operate the 230MW (DC) photovoltaic power station project in Telangana, India. The project consists of two power station projects, which are 172MW and 58MW respectively. Hairun PV will provide 230MW high-efficiency polysilicon battery components for the project.

At that time, Zhang Jie said, “Hairun PV has launched a number of strategic investment in the photovoltaic industry chain in India and its key partners, including overseas construction of plants and investment in large-scale photovoltaic power plants. Hairun International is the company’s overseas business development platform. Hareon Solar will further increase its overseas investment and financing, continue to develop and build solar power plants, and expand overseas production bases to serve local customers nearby and contribute to the development of the global clean energy industry."

Build a win-win situation together

“We started to lay out the Indian market in 2011. In 2014, we signed the first joint venture power station agreement. We have already developed, invested and built more than 300MW photovoltaic power plants with local partners.” Zhang Jie told reporters, “We chose to invest in India at the beginning. The market is based on our judgment of India's national and economic development history and trends, considering the government’s support policies for the photovoltaic industry, selecting regions with good sunshine conditions and grid connection conditions, and international long-term partners, that is, It's often said that it's time and place."

However, in the “going out” process, the challenge is inevitable in the face of differences in local policies, culture, and competition among companies in the same industry.

“The advantage of Hairun Solar is its international team with rich practical experience. When we develop overseas markets, we mainly focus on the country’s credit, currency risk, market potential, and the strength of our partners. Hairun’s contribution and corresponding The return on investment and other factors.” Zhang Jie told reporters that in the layout of the Indian market, Hairun photovoltaic leading companies in the same industry, through investment in India to build power stations, and effectively bring long-term benefits to the Indian people and local partners .

“Our multinational team has accumulated rich experience in project development and implementation, and therefore has won the trust and high recognition of the partners in the local area and won the reputation of the market industry.” Zhang Jie said.

Zhang Jie said that differences in local policies and culture are the challenges that will open up in the development of any new market.

Taking the Indian market as an example, Hairun Solar has been deeply engaged in the Indian market for six years. It has paid great attention to localized team building and localized business model innovation, and is constantly learning to improve its ability to solve problems.

“I personally think that the market is different and the people's heart is the same. Any company that wants to succeed in any market is the most important team.” In Zhang Jie’s eyes, it is necessary to truly build an honest and pragmatic team in order to win the cooperation of local partners. Trust and respect work together in a turbulent market environment to serve the local photovoltaic industry.

Zhang Jie believes that the Indian PV market will remain one of the most promising markets in the world in the next 10 years. “As a photovoltaic company in the developed countries, it is the icing on the cake and India as a photovoltaic company is a charity for the people. It is a very meaningful thing for us to participate actively.”
