Famous Chinese architect - Lu Qiansuo

Lu Qianshou (1904-1992)
Mr. Lu Qian is a member of the Xinhui Association of Guangdong Province. He went to England with his father at an early age. He graduated from the British Institute of Architecture in London (Dip.AA) in 1930 and is a member of the Royal Institute of Architects (ARIBA). Returning to China in 1930, he served as the Chief of the Construction Section of the Bank of China in Shanghai. In 1935 he was elected as the vice president of the Chinese Institute of Architects. In 1949, Wang Datong, Chen Zhanxiang and Zheng Guanxuan, who returned from the United Kingdom, formed the “Five Joint Architects”. After 1949, I went to Hong Kong. In the 1950s, he worked with architects such as Gan Ming, Zhou Yaonian and Li Liyuan to participate in part of the design of Suhouse Village, a large village house in Hong Kong.
His architectural design works mainly include Shanghai Bank of China Head Office, Shanghai Bank of China West Branch, Hankou Road Huashang Stock Exchange, Bank of China Staff Quarters, Nanjing Jewelry Gallery Bank of China, Qingdao Bank of China Staff Quarters, Suzhou Bank of China, Nanjing Jincheng Banks, etc. Among them, Shanghai Bank of China Head Office is located in Shanghai Bund, which is the only one of the many high-rise buildings in the area designed by Chinese architects (by Ying Shang Gong and Yang Xing as consultant engineers).
The architectural proposition he advocated was that a successful architectural work, the first can not leave the practical needs; the second can not leave the background of the times; the third can not leave the principle of art; the fourth can not leave the spirit of culture.
