The TDK Group has recently introduced ultra-compact EPCOS film capacitors. The new capacitor is suitable for DC link in the inverter, measuring only 40mm x 58mm (deep x length), rated at 350V DC and 65μF. This means that this capacitor has an ultra-high capacitance density of 0.9μF/cm 3 , which provides 50% higher capacitance than competing products. In addition, the new capacitor occupies a relatively small printed circuit board (PCB) space with an equivalent series resistance (ESR) of only 10mΩ and a strong ripple current capability of 3.7A.
The capacitors are made of plastic and epoxy sealing materials, all with UL 94 V0 flame retardant rating and an operating temperature range of -25°C to +65°C. The capacitor also features an integrated thermal fuse design that automatically trips when the temperature reaches 115°C and the current reaches 5A.
Typical applications include high frequency filtering in inverters such as home appliances and general DC applications.
