Ultra low voltage version of Ivy Bridge quietly "heat up"

The ultra-low voltage version of the Intel Ivy Bridge processor on the mobile platform (ULV U series) will still maintain a thermal design power consumption of 17W, which is mainly for Ultrabook ultrabooks, but according to the latest specifications, Intel also differentiates this type of work. Consumption indicators have been fine-tuned, with a slight upward trend.

There are five kinds of power consumption indicators of the ultra-low voltage IVB processor: Nominal represents the conventional value, which is the nominal design data of our thermal design; cTDP Up and cTDP Down represent the highest configurable thermal design power consumption. The value, the lowest value, this is one of the functions that IVB adds; LFM, LPM represent the low frequency mode, low power consumption mode respectively, all are used for saving electricity.

Intel said that the demand for IVB ultra-low voltage processors has increased. To better ensure its power supply stability, three indicators have been updated. The lowest cTDP Down value and LFM are all increased from 13W to 14W, and LPM is from 11W. Increase to 12.5W.

It seems that this adjustment should not have a significant impact on battery life.
