Although BOE is the only company in mainland China that can satisfy Apple's requirements and supply LCD panels for iPads and MacBooks, the company is not complacent and is actively looking for opportunities. BOE relies on local government subsidies and China's policy protection to quickly set off. In addition to digging foreign talents and acquiring technology, the company's local engineers are becoming more and more excellent. Apple has listed BOE as the top 200 supplier for the first time in this year (2018).
According to sources, BOE can supply OLEDs to Apple as early as 2020. As for the iPhone released later this year, Apple will mainly purchase panels from Samsung Electronics, and a small number of panels will be supplied by LG Display. Zhang Yu, senior vice president of BOE, pointed out that the Chengdu factory had a yield of 70% after several months of trial production. According to industry experts, this is close to the standard for stable mass production.
