What is the purpose of the generator short circuit test?

After a new installation or overhaul, the generator should be short-circuited. The purpose is to measure the coil loss of the generator, that is, to measure the copper loss. Before the generator is subjected to the short-circuit test, the following conditions must be met:

(1) The generator stator cooling water is normally put into operation;

(2) The hydrogen pressure in the generator reaches the rated value and the hydrogen cooling water is normally put into operation;

(3) The generator outlet is short-circuited by a dedicated short circuit;

(4) The excitation system can guarantee a slow and uniform boost from zero.
