Semiconductor's 2013 production value will continue to grow

According to statistics, the output value of the Taiwan IC industry in 2013 is expected to reach 1,785.6 billion yuan, up 9.3% from 2012. Among them, the IC design industry can expect the growth of smart phones and tablet PCs, as well as the introduction of advanced processes. In 2013, the output value is expected to reach 450.7 billion yuan. The annual growth rate is estimated to be 9.5%, which is more than the IC manufacturing and packaging industry. However, the first quarter of consumer electronics is still in the off-season, ITIS estimates the first quarter of Taiwan's semiconductor industry decline of 5.4%, is expected to reach 392.6 billion yuan. Among them, the IC packaging and testing industry faced a larger inventory correction than usual, and the first-quarter output declined by more than 10%.

The outlook for the global IC design industry is promising. It is expected that Smartphones, Tablets, etc. will continue to set off a wave of growth. In 2013, the advanced technology of Taiwan's IC design industry has begun to enter 28 nanometers, and the supply chain has gradually expanded to international brand manufacturers. In the future, driven by the demand for smart handheld devices, the outlook is cautiously optimistic. It is expected that the output value of Taiwan's IC design industry in 2013 will be RMB 450.7 billion, which is a 9.5% increase from 2012.

Since smart handheld devices such as smart phones and tablet PCs are still hot products this year, domestic related IC manufacturing industry is also expected to have rain. In the foundry industry, the supply of 28nm process products was in short supply, prompting foundry companies to continuously increase capital expenditures. By the end of 2013, the 20nm process capacity was set to open, which is expected to bring about a new wave of advanced process capacity demand. It is expected that Taiwan wafer foundry will have 10.1% growth. In the memory sector, domestic manufacturers of relevant memory have gradually trial-produced mobile DRAMs, which are expected to meet the demand for growth in the mobile communications market. It is expected that memory manufacturing in Taiwan will grow by 5.9% throughout the year. It is estimated that the output value of Taiwan's IC manufacturing industry in 2013 will be RMB 905.4 billion, which is 9.2% higher than that in 2012.

Even if the output value of semiconductors in 2013 will continue to grow, but the first quarter is still affected by the off-season. In particular, in the first quarter of the packaging and testing industry, due to the larger inventory correction than usual, coupled with the reduction in the number of working days in the first quarter, and the timing is still the traditional low season of the industry, the closure of the factory is generally considered to be more difficult for the first quarter of the operation. The revenue will be reversed after March. It is estimated that the output value of Taiwan's packaging and testing industry in the first quarter of 2013 will reach 62 billion yuan and 28 billion yuan, respectively, which is a significant decline from the fourth quarter of 2012 by 11.4% and 10.5%.
