NXP Semiconductors NV (NASDAQ: NXPI) and Kontron Corporation of S&T Technologies today announced a partnership to integrate NXP's Arm®-based i.MX and Layerscape processor families with Kontron/S&T hardware Work closely with software expertise to create an Industry 4.0 solution. These products will use Microsoft Azure IoT and Time Sensitive Network (TSN) technology to meet the needs of next-generation industrial IoT implementations for cloud, edge computing and factory floor innovation.
The new Industry 4.0 solution includes Kontron's i.MX 8-based SMARC 2.0 and Q7 computer modules. In addition, Kontron plans to introduce modules using Layerscape SoC (including LS1028) to support its Industrial 4.0 Edge Gateway and Kontron customers in the late 2018 design.
