In June this year, the Ministry of Science and Technology announced the National Key R&D Plan during the “Thirteenth Five-Year Plan†period – the results of the 2017 key special projects, and the outdoor wisdom lighting represented by “Smart Street Lightsâ€, which has received much attention in the lighting and smart city industries. The R&D plan is in the forefront – “Key Technology and System Integration for Outdoor Smart Lightingâ€.
This shows that the outdoor intelligent lighting represented by "smart street lights" has been recognized at the national level as a smart city landing solution and the role and potential of building a city Internet of Things in smart city construction.
The project has five related sub-projects, aiming to develop multi-functional new-type lighting fixtures with independent intranet control, based on the information-based physical system (CPS) sensor, communication and information release module, intelligent gateway and control platform. The smart lighting networking system of cluster distributed networking with scalable intelligent gateway architecture integrates the big data analysis and mining planning strategy model into the light network weak center control platform to realize intelligent decision-making.
Smart street light
On August 28, 2017, the Ministry of Science and Technology and Shanghai Sansi Electronic Engineering Co., Ltd. signed the “Outdoor Smart Lighting Key Technology and System Integration Task Bookâ€.
Shanghai Sansi is a leading intelligent lighting R&D and manufacturing company. As the lead unit of the project, it has organized including China Academy of Building Research, Highway Research Institute of the Ministry of Transport, Changzhou Wujin District Semiconductor Lighting Application Technology Research Institute, and National Electric Power. The research team consisting of 20 research institutes, universities and enterprises including the light source, Fudan University, Feile Audio and Zhejiang Huapu will carry out in-depth and continuous research and practice on the series of outdoor intelligent lighting technologies. The project has also received strong support from the Edge Computing Industry Alliance (ECC).
