Wireless network AP placement design

Select wireless AP location

For wireless networks, the placement of wireless APs is very important. Because the coverage of the wireless AP is very limited, and with the extension of the distance, the wireless signal will become weaker and weaker, the anti-interference ability will be worse and the wireless transmission rate will be lower and lower. Therefore, choosing a good location not only ensures that the wireless network can cover every corner, but also ensures a high transmission rate.

Wireless network AP placement design

When selecting a wireless AP access location, attention should be paid to the following issues.

First, place it high. The wireless signal travels in a straight line, and every time an obstacle is encountered, the wireless signal is attenuated once. The higher the position of the wireless AP is, the smaller the probability and the number of blocked, and the more the signal strength can be guaranteed. If the suspended ceiling in the living room is a hollow shape, the wireless AP can be hidden therein, which is not only beautiful, but also ensures the corresponding height of the AP.

Second, place it in the center. Wireless signal coverage is a circular area, so only the wireless APs are placed in the center to ensure that all living rooms and living rooms are within the coverage area.

Third, cross the least wall. Experiments show that the signal strength will be reduced by 20% when crossing two brick walls, but the original transmission rate can still be guaranteed. However, if you cross three walls, the signal strength will be reduced by 50% to 60% and the transmission rate will be reduced. To the original rate of 30% to 40%.

Fourth, the location is hidden. After the wireless AP configuration is installed and installed, it can be managed remotely in software. Therefore, for the sake of beauty, wireless AP can be placed in a more hidden place.

Fifth, dry ventilation. As an electronic product, the wireless AP should avoid the sun, baking, rain and moisture, so it can be placed in a dry and ventilated place to facilitate heat dissipation and ensure normal operation.

Sixth, independent power supply. The wireless AP should use the same power supply as the computer and avoid using the same circuit as air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines and other appliances to ensure that it is not affected by the pulse current.

Wireless AP Room Design

According to the room, there are roughly the following options.

Two-bedroom

Because the wireless AP can effectively transmit in a closed environment within a distance of 30m to 50m, even if there is a brick wall blocking, it is more than sufficient to use only one wireless AP in a two-bedroom apartment. If the suspended ceiling in the living room is a hollow design, the wireless AP can be hidden therein, which is not only beautiful, but also ensures the corresponding height of the AP. Wireless APs can also be placed near the end of the bedroom or hidden in a coffee table or TV cabinet in the living room.

If the cell provides broadband access, a twisted-pair cable from the information socket to the wireless AP should be deployed to connect the home network to the cell. If ADSL is used to share Internet access, a twisted pair cable should be placed near the telephone socket to connect the wireless AP to the ADSL Modem.

2. Three bedroom

The three-bedroom wireless network is basically the same as the two-bedroom one. It is best to place the wireless AP in the ceiling of the living room. If it cannot be placed in the living room, you should consider placing it in the middle of the living room so that the wireless AP can pass through only one brick wall to each room, thus ensuring the strength of the wireless signal and the transmission rate of the network.

3. Duplex room

Unlike an ordinary brick wall, a poured cement slab causes a significant attenuation of wireless signals. Therefore, a wireless AP should be set at each floor and two wireless APs should be connected together by means of a hub device. In other words, the compound home must be integrated wiring in order to achieve the connection between the wireless AP and the wireless AP and the broadband of the cell.

The wireless AP in the hall on the first floor can be placed in the center of the ceiling so as to ensure that the entire hall can be covered by powerful signals. Of course, it can also be placed close to the window, which can ensure that the room has a certain signal strength, but can still access the home network when the laptop is outside. If there are three bedrooms on the second floor, they can be placed in the middle bedroom; if there are two bedrooms, they are placed in a hidden position near the walls of the other bedroom.
